Introducing Unit 35mm — A Shop for the Analog Crowd
Why I opened an Etsy shop, what's in it, and why everything in it is made with film shooters in mind.
I've been shooting film long enough to know that it's not just a hobby — it's a whole personality.
You start with one camera. Then you find yourself at a flea market at 8am on a Saturday, holding a Yashica you didn't plan on buying, doing the math in your head. You start recognizing film stocks by their grain. You have opinions about light leaks. At some point you stop explaining it to people and just lean in.
That's the headspace Unit 35mm comes from.
I opened the shop because I wanted to make things for people who get it. Not just film photography content — actual, useful stuff. Things I'd want to own or use myself. And since I'm also a designer and developer, it made sense that the shop would sit somewhere between analog culture and the digital tools that support it.
What's in the shop
Right now Unit 35mm has two kinds of things: apparel and digital downloads.
35mm Club
The 35mm Club line is exactly what it sounds like — merch for film shooters. A t-shirt, a crewneck, a hoodie. The kind of thing you wear to a camera swap meet or a darkroom session or just around the house because you're that person now.
The graphics are simple and intentional. No loud branding, no cringe. Just something that quietly signals to other film nerds that you're one of them.
- 35mm Club T-Shirt — $18.99
- Life is Better Analog Crewneck — $28.99
- 35mm Club Hoodie — $60.00
Camera & Lens Collection Tracker
This one started as a personal tool and turned into a product. It's a Google Sheets and Excel spreadsheet for tracking your camera and lens collection — with fields for brand, model, year, purchase price, where you bought it, and more. There's a Stats dashboard built in, and it mirrors a lot of what my Camera Vault app does.
If you're not quite ready for the app, or you just live in spreadsheets, this is a great starting point.
- Camera & Lens Collection Tracker — $2.50 (instant download)
Made with that same slow energy
Everything in the shop is made with the same intention I bring to film photography itself — slow, considered, purposeful. I'm not trying to flood the market with a hundred products. I'd rather have a small collection of things that are actually good.
More stuff is coming. I have ideas. But for now, this is the shop — small, intentional, and made for people who still load film by hand.
If you find something you like, I'd love to hear about it. And if there's something you wish existed for the film photography community, tell me that too. I'm always listening.
